C&R looks forward to another intense Bookfair at AWP. Since last year a lot has happened. Stacey Lynn Brown's Cradle Song became our first book to move into a second printing, and we've pushed beyond our first five books, doubling our backlist with exciting debuts from Travis Wayne Denton and Jason Koo. Allison Funk, George Kalamaras, and Barbara Crooker have seen their own books emerge over the past year, adding to an already impressive number of previous collections of their own, and David Dominguez's follow up to an impressive debut is ready for the table in April as well. Our mission has begun to hit full stride with a small but dedicated group of talented interns and plans for a publicist and grant writer underway. Also, John Estes, another DeNovo finalist, has a collection due out in May, and Sara Burge won the 2009 DeNovo Award. We also are underway with our first fiction releases. Sybil Baker's Talismans is due for release October 2010.
These are the successes. Few, if any, have come easy. Whether it's breaking new ground with distribution, reading the overwhelming load of interesting submissions, training and managing interns, keeping our authors happy, and getting them the publicity they deserve. Oh, and selling books.
